WOMEN AND MEN ON A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY OF ELDERSHIP:
PLANTING AND NOURISHING OUR GIFTS IN THE WORLD AND
RECLAIMING OUR SOVEREIGNTY IN THE
FULCRUM OF OUR GLOBAL COMMUNITY
Dear Women of the Woman Within Elder Community
The World Elder Gathering 2010 will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, October 20 - 23, 2010 in conjunction with the MKP 25th Anniversary Celebration. The World Elder Gathering was originally created by Elder men from the MKP community as a place for elder men to gather to share their gifts and knowing. For the first time last year, at the World Elder Gathering in England, the group reached out to include women. As we plan the 2010 World Elder Gathering, we want to be even more inclusive and welcoming of the wisdom and power of masculine and feminine elder energy coming together to create a sacred time for sharing and healing. The guiding vision for this year’s program is articulated at the top of this email.
By holding the World Elder Gathering in the same week and location as The ManKind Project 25 Year Anniversary conference and celebration, it is the hope of the elders and the MKP leadership that all groups and organizations that have had a relationship with MKP over these past 25 years, including those of us who are a part of the Woman Within community, will feel welcomed to join in the celebration.
The World Elder Gathering will overlap with the MKP 25th Anniversary celebration to allow men and women to attend both, if they choose. The World Elder Gathering will begin on the evening of October 20 with an opening ceremony for men and women who are part of the elder community or who wish to take part in the gathering and blessing energy of elder men and women. It is our hope and plan to create this opening ceremony on the site of a 386 million year-old fossil bed on the shore of the Ohio River .
The World Elder Gathering Planning Committee is working now on creating a program for Thursday and Friday that will support our vision and offer programs presented by and for men and women who embody elder wisdom and blessing. More details will be available soon, but we wanted to share our vision and ask you to hold the dates if you are drawn to share this time of elder spiritual work with us. We hope that, when you see what is being created for the World Elder Gathering this year, your spirit will find something in Louisville that speaks to you and brings you to spend time with elder men and women from around the world. I want to be one of many men and women who welcome you.
Blessings for your journey,
Becky Schupbach
