2009/2010 Annual Report for Women of Wisconsin (WOW)
Another year has passed and WOW has continued to follow its mission of empowering women’s connection to self and community while fostering authenticity and personal growth.
Currently, we have the vice-president position open on our board. We welcome your talents and energy to become a part of this organization. We are looking for women to assist WOW as a committed board member which includes 7 board calls a year and attendance of 4 events a year. As we begin to develop committees, we also call out to ask what talents do you have that could support women? Over the past year, WOW has continued to support women’s participation in the Woman Within Training weekend by offering a total of $2,300 in scholarship funding for the last five trainings held in Wisconsin. Our scholarships have been funded through merchandise sales. We have proudly paid off all our vendors and owe nothing on our inventory. It has been an honor to be able to assist women on their healing journey.
WOW has also created opportunities for women to grow personally. Throughout the year, e-circle guides have been trained. And in June of 2010, an E-circle Intensive training was held. In the future WOW envisions holding two e-circle intensive trainings per year open to all women. WOW will host an e-circle tools workshop in the coming year. On October 10, 2010, WOW will present a sexuality workshop in Elkhorn, WI. The “Behind Closed Doors” workshop offers an empowering experience for women as they learn about how their body works, aging, health, and attitudes toward sexuality. WOW looks forward to also putting on a money workshop where women will become aware of their relationship with money. It is our mission to keep workshops affordable and accessible to women around the state.
A number of community building events took place during the year. A chili cook off was held in September of 2009. It was a beautiful fall day filled with food and fun. In November 2009, an in person board meeting took place with community members invited. Strategic planning took place at that meeting. In December 2009, WOW held an open board call with WIC and all community members were also invited to attend. As November 2010 comes on the horizon, another strategic planning meeting will take place and we encourage attendance by all. We seek your ideas for future community building events. Bring your vision, skills, and energy!
As WOW’s vision to empower women’s connection to self and community grows, the board will continue seeking and writing grants to support our mission. Although 2009 was a tight year for donors, our first grant is “in the books”. WOW will continue to write grants to seek funding for opportunities for women in Wisconsin.
